Yesterday, Deputy Elijah tollett received information about a stolen black Dodge Challenger valued at around $25,000 that may have been spotted in the Chestnut Hill Road area. He was also informed that the vehicle may have been stolen by a woman by the name of Ashley Asberry.

The deputy spoke with a neighboring homeowner on Chestnut Hill Road and was granted permission to use the property to conduct surveillance of the house alluded to by dispatch. The deputy saw what seemed to be a black Dodge Challenger parked behind a garage on the property being surveilled, and he also saw a man and a woman walking in front of the house.

The woman was seen getting in and out of the driver side or the Dodge Challenger multiple times, and upon further inspection was believed to be Ashley Asberry.

The deputy then proceeded to the house to make contact and confirm if the vehicle on the property was the stolen vehicle in question. And upon making contact with the resident, the deputy confirmed the vehicle to be stolen by checking the VIN through Central dispatch.

The homeowner gave consent to search the property for the woman, and after further investigation, the homeowner told the deputy that she had brought the vehicle to his house on Wednesday.

Detectives Vandever and Tollett, with the Crossville Police Department, responded to the scene to help process the vehicle. The deputy then obtained a voluntary written statement from the homeowner regarding Asberry driving the vehicle to his property and hiding it behind his garage in order to avoid “repossession”.

A tow truck was called to take possession of the vehicle while detective Vandever notified the victim that the vehicle had been recovered.

Ashley Asbury would be charged with theft of property, however, there is no mention in the report of whether or not she was arrested.
