CUMBERLAND SHERIFF’S OFFICE ISSUES WARNING ABOUT RISE IN SCAM ACTIVITY
The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about a rise in scams targeting local residents.
To protect yourself, authorities advise against clicking on links in unsolicited emails or private messages, trusting phone numbers sent to you, or using Bitcoin ATM machines for any requested payments. If anyone asks for your personal information or money, stop immediately and contact the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office before taking any action.
Once money is sent—especially via cryptocurrency, gift cards, or wire transfers—it is extremely difficult to recover.
Residents are urged to stay alert, verify everything, and help protect their family and neighbors from these scams.
