DAD OF TEEN KILLED IN ATV CRASH CHARGED WITH CRIMINALLY NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – The father of the teen girl killed in a recent ATV crash in Nashville is facing a slew of charges, including criminally negligent homicide, according to Metro Nashville police.

Police said 40-year-old Victor Mozqueda, the father of 14-year-old Melanie Mozquada, was arrested on six warrants related to her death.

Victor was hosting Melanie’s birthday party at his home when police say he allowed her and another teenager to ride an ATV on a public street without supervision or helmets. The ATV struck a Jeep Patriot on Darbytown Drive.

Melanie, who was the passenger at the time of the crash, was taken to Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt where she later died. Victor has been charged with criminally negligent homicide involving a minor, two counts of reckless endangerment by motor vehicle, two counts of aggravated child abuse, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
