DANGEROUS HIGH SPEED PURSUIT IN CROSSVILLE AND OUT INTO COUNTY RESULTS IN ARREST

A high speed pursuit that started in Crossville and ended outside of the city last night resulted in an arrest. Officers observed a vehicle operated by 19-year-old Matthew Flint Dorman of Cumberland County traveling on North Main Street at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour at one point. The report states Dorman continued on Main Street to Genesis Road and into downtown at speeds of 80 to 90 miles per hour nearly colliding with several vehicles. The chase continued on Lantana Road of speeds of nearly 110 miles per hour. It came to an end on Breckenridge Drive after the vehicle ran over spike strips deployed by officers. A passenger in the vehicle jumped out and was detained by officers for questioning.

Dorman reportedly tried to get out of the vehicle and officers saw what appeared to be a gun. Officers instructed Dorman to get on the ground and put his hands behind his back. Dorman reportedly hid his left hand underneath him resulting in him being stunned and getting into a physical altercation with an officer. The gun was located and actually was a Taurus BB pistol similar to a Taurus firearm.

Dorman was charged with felony evading arrest, resisting arrest, driving without a license and joyriding. Dorman was taken to the Cumberland County jail and initially placed under bonds totaling $11,000.

105.7 News learned by way of Cumberland County General Sessions Court Dorman pled guilty in a plea deal to a reduced charge of attempted possession of meth in April of 2019 and received 6 months supervised probation. Dorman violated his probation and received 7 days in jail in September 2019.
