Dawn E. Hood, age 86, of Chattanooga, formerly of Rockwood, passed away January 2, 2021 at the Hospice Care Center of Chattanooga with her family by her side. She was born on September 17, 1934 in Harriman to Charles Elmer & Linda Edwards. She was a member of the Roane County Retired Teachers and taught at Rockwood High School for many years. She was a graduate of East Tennessee State University and later earned her master’s degree at the University of Tennessee. She was a beloved mother and teacher to so many people. Mrs. Hood was also a very active person in the Rockwood and Roane County Community. She is preceded in death by her husband: Bryan Hood; parents: Charles Elmer Edwards & Linda Rose Edwards; sisters: Hope Edwards King & her husband Charles “Rusty”, Ellen “Susie” Edwards Houser & husband Leland; and brothers: Charles Edwards & Max Edwards. She is survived by her daughter: Suzanne Kirk (Brian) of Ooltewah; grandchildren: Holt Kirk of Ooltewah and Annalise Kirk of Ooltewah; and several brother and sister in laws, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 5, 2021 from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the Rockwood United Methodist Church. Funeral service will follow. Graveside and interment service will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Rockwood. Evans Mortuary in Rockwood is serving the family.
