DAYLIGHT SAVING BILL EDGES CLOSER TO PASSAGE IN TENNESSEE

House Bill 0247, commonly known as the Daylight Saving bill, moved a step closer to becoming law Monday. A version of the bill already passed the Senate in February.

If the bill passes, the state of Tennessee could establish Daylight Saving Time as the standard time in Tennessee.

Daylight Saving Time was initially implemented in the early 1900s, when additional daylight hours were needed by farming families to accomplish agricultural tasks.

However, recent studies have shown changing the clocks leads to no significant energy savings, and the disruption to our biological cycles has been linked to increased instances of heart attack, stroke and traffic accidents.
