DAYTON’S TIENDA VALENCIA #2 MOBILE RECEIVES NEAR-FAILING HEALTH SCORE

On April 22, 2025, the Tennessee Health Department conducted a routine inspection at Tienda Valencia #2 Mobile, with an address listed at 167 S. Cherry St., Dayton, TN, assigning it a score of 72 due to multiple violations. The person in charge (PIC) failed to perform required duties, leading to several critical violations, with a strong recommendation for immediate food safety training for all employees.

Hygiene issues included employees drinking from unapproved open cups, not washing hands before gloving, touching ready-to-eat tortillas with bare hands, and a lack of hand soap at the handwashing sink, all corrected on-site. Temperature control violations involved raw steak at 45°F and ground beef at 66°F, prompting the PIC to adjust the refrigerator and monitor temperatures, with plans for repairs if needed.

Contamination risks arose from an employee’s drink cup on a cutting board and improper knife storage under cardboard on a wood shelf. Facility maintenance issues included poorly maintained wood shelves, a stained cutting board, a missing backflow preventer at the three-compartment sink, and dirty floors. Compliant areas included proper food sourcing, cooking, hot holding, date marking, and adherence to the Tennessee Non-Smoker Protection Act, with no tobacco products offered for sale. Immediate action on training, refrigeration, hygiene, and facility upkeep was advised.
