DEATH OF WOMAN UNDER INVESTIGATION IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the death of a woman. According to information released this morning, officers were called to the 2300 block of Shorty Barnes Road late last month for a woman being drug along the road by a brown Chevy truck. A witness told deputies 40-year-old Shiloh Jean Elmore of Crossville was found in the road unresponsive and a male was trying to put her in the truck. The driver then left the scene.

Hours later, Elmore was taken to Cumberland Medical Center by a subject in a vehicle matching the description of the truck.

A female driving the truck told officers that a man came to her house and told her that Elmore allegedly had been involved in a 4-wheeler accident in Crab Orchard. The male further said he could not take Elmore to the emergency room because he was wanted by authorities. Evidence was collected from the scene on Shorty Barnes Road as well as from the inside of the truck.

A suspect has been named in the case.
