DEATH PENALTY SOUGHT FOR TWO INMATES WHO ALLEGEDLY KILLED CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS DURING ESCAPE

The State of Georgia announced this morning (Wednesday, June 21, 2017) during a hearing that they will seek the death penalty for two inmates accused of murdering two correctional officers during an escape near Eatonton, Georgia last week. Ricky Dubose and Donnie Rowe is charged with two counts of murder and one count each of felony escape and motor vehicle hijacking. The judge declined to set bond. Dubose and Rowe were transported from Tennessee to the Putnam County, Georgia courtroom during the over night hours early this morning. Rowe and Dubose were caught last Thursday in Rutherford County, Tennessee after a police pursuit through the county earlier that day. Rowe and Dubose, reportedly overpowered, disarmed and killed Sgt. Christopher Monica and Sgt. Curtis Billue and then carjacked a driver who happened to pull up behind the bus on a rural highway.
