DEBRIS BLOCKS EASTBOUND LANE ON INTERSTATE 40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY, CAUSING HEAVY DELAYS

Drivers traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 through Cumberland County are facing significant delays following reports of road debris.

The incident was first reported near Mile Marker 329 at 11:52 AM on Friday, August 14, 2026. The debris has blocked the right-hand lane of the two-lane eastbound stretch, leaving only one lane open to traffic.

Crowdsourced traffic reports from the Waze app indicated that traffic began coming to a halt by 12:07 PM, with heavy congestion persisting through at least 12:16 PM.
