The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory remaining in effect until 7 PM CDT Sunday, warning residents of dangerously high temperatures and humidity levels across the region.

The advisory covers Cumberland, Fentress, Grundy, Pickett, and Van Buren Counties, where forecasters project heat index values to skyrocket up to 105 degrees.

Meteorologists caution that prolonged exposure to these conditions combined with high humidity can easily trigger heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke if proper precautions are not taken.
