DETAILS EMERGE IN ROANE COUNTY OF MURDER OF CUMBERLAND COUNTIAN

More details emerged this afternoon in the murder of a Cumberland Countian. Warrants obtained state 21-year-old Casey Lee Ridenour of Clinton, Tennessee and 33-year-old Samuel Lee Cook, listed as homeless, both face second-degree murder and abuse of a corpse. The body of 37-year-old Aaron Reed Brown of the Daysville community was pulled from the Emory River last week.
On Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at around 9:30 a.m.. the Roane County Sheriff’s Department responded to a boat launch at 1651 Webster Road in Harriman to a report of a body floating in the water. Brown was pulled from the river and authorities observed he sustained a busted lip and a nylon strap (seat belt) was observed around his neck tied in multiple knots. Brown was identified by a Roane State Community College library card in his wallet.
The warrant states multiple witnesses stated Ridenour and Cook killed Brown. Documents indicate Ridenour and Cook placed Brown in the river in an attempt to dispose of his body and fled the scene.
Should Ridenour and Cook make bond, they will be required to wear a GPS monitor. Both are being held in the Roane County Jail in Kingston on just over a half million dollars bond each.
Both are scheduled to make their first court appearance tomorrow (December 15, 2020) at 9 a.m. in Roane County General Sessions Court.
