DETAILS OF STABBING OFF OF GENESIS ROAD RELEASED

Crossville police this morning released a report of a stabbing just before 6 p.m. yesterday. It states officers found 22-year-old Benjamin J. Jackson, listed as homeless, with a wound to his mid-section. Witnesses indicated Jackson allegedly ran up to a porch of a home on Hayes Drive off of Genesis Road armed with a spade shovel. Authorities say Jackson swung it several times at Alec Donovan despite several commands to leave. Donavan grabbed a sword from beside the door and began to deflect strikes from the shovel. The altercation continues down the steps of the front porch. Donovan told officers he thrusted the sword forward at Jackson in an act of self-defense and to push Jackson away. The weapon impaled Jackson in the stomach. The report indicates Jackson was the primary aggressor with the shovel and causes Donovan to act to defend himself. Both the sword and shovel were seized as evidence. Jackson was flown by Lifeforce to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga for treatment. A warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon was issued for Jackson.
