DETAILS ON BRAWL AT EVANS MORTUARY

According to a report by the Rockwood Police Department, on October 13, 2025, at approximately 15:08, an officer from the Rockwood City Police Department responded to a dispatch call about a fight in progress involving a family in the parking lot of Evans Mortuary located on Gateway Ave in Rockwood.
The incident was classified as a simple assault with no bias or hate crime indicators and arose from a confrontation between two adult females. One woman alleged that the other approached and began hitting and kicking her in the parking lot, a claim supported by her accompanying witnesses.
The second woman countered that she was seated in her vehicle when the first approached, yelled, and reached inside to strike her, with her account corroborated by an independent witness and video footage from her phone depicting the first woman reaching into the car and delivering a blow to the head, though the video lacked audio.
Although the assault occurred prior to the officer’s arrival, the evidence—including the video, statements, and risk of escalation—led to the arrest of the first woman for simple assault.
The scene was documented with photographs and evidence collection, and the case status remains active for ongoing investigation.
