On August 1, 2025, a single-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 40 near mile marker 320 in Cumberland County, Tennessee, involving a 2019 Freightliner driven by 61-year-old Thomas Vaughn from Tennessee. Vaughn, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained injuries when the front steer tire of his vehicle blew out, causing him to lose control.

The truck veered off the roadway, struck a guardrail, and then traveled down an embankment, where it overturned. No other vehicles or passengers were involved in the incident, and no charges have been filed pending the outcome of the investigation.
