DETAILS ON FRIDAY’S POWER OUTAGE IN HARRIMAN
An event in the Roane County area on Friday afternoon resulted in power outages for around 700 Harriman Utility Board (HUB) customers along Restaurant Row, South Roane Street, and the areas between Food City and just south of Interstate 40 to Patton Lane.
According to HUB manager Candace Vannasdale, the call came in around 4:50 p.m. on Friday afternoon. HUB crews had trouble finding the pole to the transformer, which was the culprit, but were able to get everyone back online just before 7:00 p.m. that evening.
She issued an apology for the outage, attributing it to a transformer malfunction. The outage also affected several traffic signals at key intersections within the city, but thankfully, there were no reported accidents due to this.
