On June 28, 2025, at 4:55 PM, a crash occurred on US Highway 70 east of Dogwood Rd in Cumberland County. A 2020 International semi-truck/trailer, driven by 31-year-old Omid Mahmoodi from Virginia, was traveling east when it veered off the right shoulder after a curve, struck a guardrail, and rolled over an embankment, landing on its top.

Mahmoodi, who was wearing a seat belt, reported passing out and was injured. No charges have been filed, pending investigation. No other vehicles or passengers were involved.
