DETAILS ON TWO-VEHICCLE WRECK ON HIGHWAY 27 NEAR ROCKWOOD
A two-vehicle accident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the entrance to the Roane County Industrial Park along Highway 27 in Rockwood, near North Gateway. The collision involved a tractor-trailer and a car, but fortunately resulted in no injuries.
According to the police report, the tractor-trailer—a 2014 Freightliner owned by Profit Trucking out of Crossville—was driven by 78-year-old Kenny Maynard of Cookeville. Maynard stated that he was stopped at the stop sign, preparing to pull onto Highway 27, when another tractor-trailer turning into the industrial park blocked his view. As he proceeded into the intersection, he saw a car driven by 82-year-old Judith Cockrell of Rockwood approaching. Cockrell was unable to stop in time, and her vehicle struck the side of Maynard’s tractor-trailer.
Both drivers escaped injury in the mishap, though significant damage to both vehicles was observed at the scene.
