DETAILS RELEASED OF ACCIDENT INVOLVING CROSSVILLE POLICE CRUISER

The Tennessee Highway Patrol released a crash report this afternoon involving a Crossville police officer.

The accident happened Saturday around 12:20 p.m. at Miller Bypass and West Avenue.

The report states a 2023 Dodge Charger police cruiser driven by 29-year-old Jacob Michael Zimmerman was running his emergency equipment lights and siren approaching the intersection. Zimmerman continued in the southbound lane because all northbound lanes were blocked for a red light. Zimmerman slowed and then proceeded into the intersection.

Troopers say a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado operated by 59-year-old Paul Gregory Wood had the green light and continued west on Miller Avenue. The report states Wood did not see the oncoming officer.

Wood collided with the police cruiser in the intersection.

The impact caused the cruiser to rotate counterclockwise, striking a stationary 2019 Dodge Ram driven by 28-year-old Dustin Alan Henry.

The report states Zimmerman and a ride-a-long passenger, 59-year-old Donald Charles Busching, were both injured in the crash.

Wood and Henry were not hurt.

The accident report did not indicate charges stemming from the accident.
