The Crossville Police Department released a report late today regarding a vehicle versus a bicyclist accident.

It took place around 5 a.m. Saturday on Miller Bypass close to Taylor Street.

The report states an automobile driven by 36-year-old Jon Peter Smith of Crossville was traveling north on Miller Bypass.

A bicyclist, 19-year-old Robert Beattie of Crossville, was wearing dark clothes and was riding an electric bicycle with no lights.

Police say Beattie failed to yield to Smith and was struck by the vehicle.

Beattie refused medical treatment at the scene.

Smith was not hurt.

Police remind bicyclists and pedestrians to wear bright colors while out during nighttime. If you ride a bike at night, have a light or reflective tape on it so motorists can better see you.
