A Roane County man accused of leaving his 1-year-old son in a vehicle following a crash last month has finally been arrested. David Ray Diebel, 31, is charged with child abuse, vehicle theft, aggravated assault, domestic assault and several traffic violations. The child sustained minor injuries and was taken to Children’s Hospital as a precaution. Diebel was clocked traveling east on I-40 near the 356 mile marker at 91 miles per hour. When an officer tried to stop Diebel, he got off the interstate, lost control and hit a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica operated by 49-year-old Ronda Patterson of Kingston. That is when he fled the scene on foot. Deibel is scheduled to appear in Roane County General Sessions Court November 13.
