DISTRICT ATTORNEY DUNAWAY ATTENDS 6TH BILLY JOE GREENWOOD PAROLE HEARING

On October 9, 2025, District Attorney Bryant C. Dunaway attended the sixth parole hearing for Billy Joe Greenwood, joined by a large group of David Dishman’s family, to oppose Greenwood’s early release. The hearing officer denied the parole request, ensuring the family will return for another hearing next year.
David Dishman, who would have been 54, was brutally murdered 36 years ago at age 18, shot twice in his mother’s driveway as a high school senior with a bright future. During the hearing, David’s mother, Sherry Dishman, spoke tearfully on behalf of her son, reflecting the family’s enduring grief. Dunaway emphasized the ongoing pain the Dishman family endures at each hearing and called for prayers for them.
He argued that a life sentence for murder should be fully served, noting that while Greenwood lives in prison, David has been in heaven, separated from his family, for 36 years.
