DOG SHOT IN SNOUT AT RESIDENCE ON RYAN ROAD IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

Cumberland County deputies responded Sunday to a home on Ryan Road after a dog was shot in the snout.

The incident report states the homeowner heard four gunshots. He went outside and heard his 40-pound mix breed dog yelping.

The canine was taken to a veterinarian in Cookeville for emergency surgery. A hollow point bullet was recovered from inside the dog.

A surveillance video captured footage of a possible named suspect walking through a wooded area next to the residence of the victim. Officers heard on the video the suspect whistling (like calling for the dog) and then heard the gunshots.

The owner of the dog was advised the incident would be a civil matter and a report would be filed.
