DOGS LEFT OUTSIDE IN FREEZING WEATHER AT MOTEL RESULTS IN DRUG CHARGES FOR TWO IN CROSSVILLE

Two dogs reported left outside in a vehicle parked at Budget Inn in Crossville resulted in drug charges for two suspects.

Crossville police responded to the scene this week and met with an employee of the motel.

He said over the past few days, he saw various individuals come in and out of a room he rented to 39-year-old Brian Corey Rector of Crossville.

The employee added a vehicle parked in front of the room has two dogs inside in 21 degree weather. The automobile was not left running. The dogs were later cared for.

The officer knocked on the room door and encountered Rector.

He, as well as 39-year-old Travis Lee Coleman, was ordered to step outside.

A search warrant was obtained after the officer learned there was drug paraphernalia allegedly inside the room.

Law enforcement reportedly found a substance believed to be fentanyl/heroin. The arrest report states officers also found additional heroin, two digital scales, hypodermic needles, narcan, and over $4,000 in large and small bills.

Coleman was arrested for manufacture, delivery, sale, or possession of Schedule VI drugs and manufacture, sale, or possession of fentanyl. He was additionally charged with introduction of contraband into a penal institution after law enforcement reportedly found marijuana on him while being processed into the jail.

Rector was charged with manufacture, sale, or possession of fentanyl and possession of drug paraphernalia.
