DOMESTIC CALL LEADS TO BROKEN REAR WINDOW ON PATROL CRUISER

A domestic call led two White County Deputies to a Bon Air Mountain residence which resulted in the rear windshield of a patrol car being busted. The call came in Monday afternoon after 911 Dispatch received the report of a dispute on Old Highway Rd. At the home, deputies made contact with Robert Shields who was in violation of an order of protection from Cumberland County. Shields became uncooperative when officers tried to arrest him. A scuffle took place with Shields ramming his head through the rear window of one of the White County cruisers. The deputies began to immediately administer first-aid to Shields who suffered head injuries from the broken glass. As he continued to protest, Shields was finally transported to St. Thomas Highlands Hospital for further treatment. Shields has already appeared in court and has been ordered to pay $469 in restitution for the damages to the cruiser.
