The Tennessee Highway Patrol says a head-on vehicle collision in Anderson County resulted in two deaths.

The report states a Nissan Sentra driven by 30-year-old Shelby L. Russell of Tennessee was traveling south on Clinton Highway when it crossed over the double-yellow lines and struck an oncoming Kia Sorento driven by an 80-year-old man. He was taken to an area trauma center for treatment.

A passenger in the Kia, 78-year-old Janie S. Ballinger, died from injuries sustained.

Russell also passed away as a result of the crash.
