DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER BYPASSING ACCIDENT SCENE AND MISUSING 911 LINE
On April 28, 2026, city police units responded to a vehicle accident with injuries at the intersection of Lantana Road and Circle Drive, where the involved vehicles were still blocking the roadway. While officers were investigating the crash, Christopher Miller drove his Nissan Frontier around a marked patrol car that had its emergency lights activated and was positioned to block the road. No officer had instructed him to bypass the scene. Officers stopped Miller’s vehicle and directed him to back up to another patrol car so he could be issued a traffic citation for failure to obey a police officer.
When Officer Jeremy Beard approached Miller at his vehicle and asked for his driver’s license, Miller instead called 911. When asked why, he replied, “cause you’re not the sheriff’s office.” Because Miller had called 911 with no actual emergency occurring, he was placed under arrest and transported to the Cumberland County Justice Center. He was also served a summons for the traffic violation.
