DRIVER DIES AFTER DUMP TRUCK DROPS OFF 100-FOOT CLIFF IN PIKEVILLE

Crossville Fire, Cumberland County Fire, Cumberland County Rescue, Piney VFD, Dunlap VFD, and Signal Mountain Fire responded mutual aid to assist Pikeville Fire with a technical rescue on a Mountain Road in Bledsoe County. A dump truck carrying asphalt went off a 100-foot cliff on Lee Station Mountain Road.

The driver of the vehicle was heavily entrapped, and crews had to be lowered down to the vehicle to extricate the victim. Crews battled heat and steep terrain for almost 4 hours to complete the recovery of the victim.

According to the THP, the driver was identified as 30-year-old Ethan Walls of Tennessee who has since passed away.
