SHOTS FIRED IN CROSSVILLE ROAD RAGE ALTERCATION

Crossville city officers arrived at Northside Drive Monday evening after a man stated shots were fired at him after a road rage incident.

According to the police report, a man identified as David Denton was traveling in a KIA down Miller Ave when he noticed the driver of a motorcycle driving recklessly. Mr. Denton stated that he had his window down when the two drivers approached the red light at the intersection of Highway 70 and Northside Drive. Mr. Denton told officers when he got beside the motorcyclist he asked, “Why are you driving like a stupid idiot?” He then turned east down Northside Drive when the motorcyclist decided to change routes and follow him.

As Mr. Denton was traveling down Northside Drive; he stated the motorcyclist drove beside him in the turning lane. Mr. Denton then decided to pull over where the motorcyclist stopped approximately two feet from the driver’s door. Mr. Denton stated he opened his door when the motorcyclist got off his bike, dropping it to the road, and brandished a 9mm handgun. He then fired one round into the driver’s side door.  Mr. Denton stated that when the motorcyclist was picking up his motorcycle after being dropped, he stepped towards him and that’s when the motorcyclist pointed his firearm at Mr. Denton’s forehead, between his eyes.

Mr. Denton backed away and got into his vehicle and called police.

When officer’s arrived, they identified the motorcyclist as 53-year-old Rodney Jarrett. He told officers that due to fear of being hurt, he drew and fired his firearm. He then threw the firearm into the field. Officers located the gun upon arrival.

After investigating, Rodney Jarret was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault and Reckless Endangerment.
