DRIVER FROM NEW YORK ARRESTED AFTER ACCIDENT ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

A man from New York is facing charges after a vehicle accident on I-40 in Cumberland County yesterday. Trooper Jeremy Newcome says in his report released today a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox driven by 35-year-old Brian Mitchell May of Greenwood Lake, New York was traveling at the 315 mile marker when he crashed into a concrete culvert, attempted to flee the scene on foot, and was apprehended. Troopers say narcotics were discovered during the investigation. Officers found at least two bullet holes on the vehicle but learned the vehicle was shot at during an incident in Warwick, New York. May was charged with DUI, possession and resale of marijuana, reckless driving, tampering with evidence and leaving the scene of an accident. May was transported to the Cumberland County jail and initially placed under $54,000 bond.
