DRIVER TRAVELING 103 MPH ARRESTED FOR SUSPICION OF DUI
A Cumberland County deputy conducted a traffic stop off Sparta Highway on Wednesday night after observing a Chevy Spark traveling 103 mph in a 55 mph speed zone. The deputy also noted the driver of the vehicle failed to maintain their lane and crossed the center line several times, traveling in the oncoming lane.
The driver was identified as 69-year-old Anthony Capannola, of Crossville. When asked why he was driving so fast, he claimed it was because he had to go to the bathroom. According to the report, he admitted to deputies he had been drinking previously in Nashville.
After failing sobriety tests, Mr. Capannola was arrested for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence. A warrant was granted for a blood draw.
