DRUNK DRIVER WRECKS INTO CREEK AND TAKES OFF ON FOOT

Cumberland County– On Wednesday, a white Kia was involved in a hit-and-run around the area of Tabor Loop. When officers spotted the vehicle, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and following very closely to the vehicles ahead of it. The Kia then turned off the Highway and onto Maynard Road where the driver wrecked it into a creek. The male subject began to run through the woods for several minutes. The officer found the subject laying down in an attempt to camouflage himself with the scenery.

Marcus Ballard, age 51, stated he was from Georgia and in town due to court the following day in Nashville for a DUI. Mr. Ballard claimed he ran because he was “stupid and scared”. He also admitted he consumed beer that morning.  During a search of his vehicle, officers found 16 pills identified as Methadone.

He was charged with:

Evading Arrest, Leaving the scene of An Accident, Driving Under the Influence, and Simple possession.
