DUI ARREST ON FIRST STREET IN CROSSVILLE
On April 10, 2025, Deputy Caleb Cathey observed a 2004 Suburban driven by Keith Roberts on East First Street with an unlit license plate and failing to maintain its lane. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the vehicle parked near some trees on First St.
Both Roberts and his passenger emitted a strong odor of alcohol. Roberts admitted to consuming one tallboy, while the passenger gave conflicting statements about drinking a couple of beers and a screwdriver tallboy.
During Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Roberts reported an eye condition affecting the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus Test and struggled with balance. He failed to follow instructions during the Walk and Turn test, showing signs of nervousness when a K9 unit alerted to narcotics in the vehicle. Roberts also performed poorly on the One Leg Stand test, swaying and failing to keep his foot raised.
A vehicle search revealed seven empty Jim Beam containers and Roberts’ prescription anxiety and sleep-aid medication. Roberts was arrested for driving under the influence and taken to Cumberland County intake.
