DUI ON HIGHWAY 127

On Saturday at around 1:55 a.m., Deputy Chris Page was patrolling Genesis Road near Pine Eden Church when he observed a dark-colored Jeep renegade exit the parking lot of Rumors Bar and Grill and enter the roadway to drive down Genesis Road. The deputy saw the vehicle struggle to maintain its lane of travel and cross the fog line before approaching the red light.

The deputy followed the vehicle as it made a left hand turn heading westbound on interstate 40 where the vehicle would travel between 47 and 60 mph in a 70 mph zone, it then exited I-40 and began traveling northbound on Highway 127 where it then turned into the circle k gas station.

The driver, identified as Jeremy Everett Norris, exited the vehicle and walked slowly towards the entrance. After entering the store, Norris remained inside for several minutes so the deputy attempted a consensual encounter near the cash register.

Deputy Page asked Norris if he could come outside to speak and once outside the deputy asked him if he had been drinking alcohol to which he responded Yes. Norris admitted to being at Rumors Bar and Grill, saying he had had a hard week and made a bad decision by going to the bar.

He refused sobriety tests, saying he had astigmatism.

Norris would be arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
