EAST TENNESSEE OPENS HEARTS AND HOMES TO FLORIDA EVACUEES
Hurricane Irma is approaching U.S. shores and the evacuation of Florida continues with East Tennesseans opening their homes and hearts to the travelers. Social media has been over-stuffed with pictures of weather maps, videos of the pounding storm and invitations to family and friends to migrate to the safety of the Volunteer State. While those Floridians forced to stay home are preparing for the “worst hurricane in history”, Tennesseans are preparing their homes for those coming in for shelter. Those that have been volunteering time and efforts to help those in Texas are now looking toward Florida and preparing for another round of donations of food, water, clothing and money. If you want to help, contact East Tennessee RAM or the American Red Cross.
