EIGHTH VICTIM FOUND, POSSIBLE CONNECTION TO SUMNER COUNTY SLAYING
An eighth victim has been identified in connection with last month’s Sumner County slayings. Investigators confirm Jim Dunn’s decapitated body was discovered April 17 near a burnt-out cabin in a rural area of the county.
Seven warrants filed last week charged 25-year-old Michael Cummins with first-degree murder. A warrant for criminal homicide had been filed previously in connection with the first seven slayings.
Dunn’s missing rifle was found April 27 at one of the homes where six of the victims’ bodies were found.
All eight victims died from blunt-force head injuries. Cummins’ parents were among his victims.
According to police documents, Cummins fled into the woods the night of April 27. After brandishing a hatchet at law-enforcement officers, Cummins was shot and wounded before being arrested.
