As if the story of Elizabeth Thomas’s abduction and recovery is not making enough headlines, it now comes to light the 15-year-old Maury County teen had an abusive mother. The girl’s father, Anthony Thomas, filed for divorce and a restraining order against Kimberly Thomas. The couple had been married for 30 years. Kimberly Thomas has pleaded not guilty to five counts of abuse and neglect allegedly involving the couple’s children. Anthony Thomas says that Tad Cummins took advantage of Elizabeth’s vulnerability to “brainwash” her and entice her away. Cummins and the girl were discovered last week in northern California. He faces several federal charges including crossing state lines with the teen for sex and sexual contact with a minor.
