Eric Brandon Garrison, a 44-year-oid resident of Lake Tansi, is scheduled for a critical court deadline in the Cumberland County Circuit and Criminal Court on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Garrison faces a first-degree murder charge following a grand jury indictment stemming from the August 22, 2025, fatal shooting of 62-year-old Albert Sturgill Jr. The incident occurred near the Military Memorial Park directly across from the local courthouse, where Sturgill was protesting.

Represented by attorney Howard Upchurch, Garrison remains held under a $1,500,000 bond set by Surety Big Jim’s Bonding Company. The upcoming October 6 hearing will address ongoing legal deadlines as the high-profile case moves forward in Judge Wesley Bray’s court.
