Funeral Services for Erma Lee McCowan, age 81, of Monterey, Tennessee, will be conducted on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Mineral Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Rev. Eugene McCowan, Rev. Kenny Pierce, Rev. Troy England, and Rev. Darrell Key will officiate with interment to follow in the Mineral Springs Cemetery. Mrs. McCowan was born on Wednesday, March 1, 1944, in the Sunk Cane Community, to the late George and Ollie Miller Stephens. Mrs. McCowan passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025, at her daughter’s home. Mrs. McCowan worked with Appalachian and Hanging Limb Apparel. She loved her family and taking care of children brought her great joy. She was a member of Mineral Springs Freewill Baptist Church and was a faithful Christian lady that loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a prayer warrior for many. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Eleisha and Bryant Coley of Monterey, TN; son, Jamie McCowan of Monterey, TN; grandchildren, Ashley (Mikey) Hannah, Stephen (Aimee) Coley, Amanda (Christopher) Pryor, and Evangeline Rose “Evie” McCowan; great grandchildren, Hailey Mae Coley, Mary Jo Lynne Hannah, Justin Hannah, Jaden Hannah, James Hannah, and Jesse Coley; sister, Anna Coffee of Livingston, TN; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; special friends, Jack Buckner, Betty England, Phyllis Vaughn, and Janice Phipps. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Junior McCowan; 8 brothers, Wallace, Sam, Jeff, Isaac, Whaler, JP, George Jr., Billie Paul Stephens; and sisters, Rindy Omalee Murphy; Eliza Jane McCloud, and Oma Mae Stephens. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be given to the funeral home.
