F.O.T.T. SUBMITS PROPOSAL TO THE CITY COUNCIL TO ADD 30+ MORE MILES OF TRAIL

Local 501c3 organization Friends of the Trails submitted a proposal to the Crossville city council at last night’s work session to build roughly 33 more miles of trails in the area.

Their president, John Conrad, delivered a presentation with several maps showing where the new trails would be built.

In total, the city has roughly 104.10 miles of trail available to walk, and if the proposal from this organization goes through at next week’s meeting, residents could expect to see that number climb to 137.2 miles of trails.

The largest addition in terms of sheer mileage would be a full trail going around the perimeter of Meadow Park Lake, totaling around 7 miles of trail. Conrad even suggested, possibly in jest, that the city consider implementing a ferry boat system. But later, would earnestly suggest ferry boats even further due to the organization’s ability to use them to quickly get to parts of the trail to maintain it.

One portion of the proposal was met with some contention by a civilian in the audience who wasn’t keen on the idea of one of the trails possibly weaving between homes in a residential district.

Questions were also raised by the council about how much trail needed to be made before it was considered ‘enough’.

The full scope and details of the proposal will be considered up until it is time to vote next week.
