FAIRFIELD GLADE LEADERS TACKLE ISSUES FROM SURVEY

According to a report from the Glade Sun, following the resolution of a contentious six-month dispute over proposed amendments to the covenants and restrictions (C&Rs), which were overwhelmingly rejected by 83.4% of voting property owners in September, Fairfield Glade Community Club leaders have shifted focus to addressing longstanding issues of member confidence and transparency.
A spring survey conducted by ClubInsights revealed that only 29% of 2,640 respondents expressed confidence in the board—33 points below industry benchmarks—and 36% in management, with transparency rated poorly by 37.3%. These concerns, highlighted during the C&Rs opposition and a 2023 strategic survey urging “urgent action,” prompted the second phase of the MemberConnect initiative: three days of focus groups earlier this month targeting member communications, leadership, and dining services.
Consultants from ClubInsights and Club Benchmarking noted that low trust is common in large, diverse communities like Fairfield Glade, often fueled by vocal minorities and past controversies, such as the board’s decision to close the stables and communication missteps during the C&Rs debate. Recommendations include regular town hall meetings on single topics, engaging trusted community influencers, and consistently presenting clear facts to rebuild credibility and counter misinformation, with experts emphasizing the need to prioritize member experiences over statistics to foster a stronger track record.
