FAIRFIELD GLADE ROTARY DEDICATES “PEACE POLE” FOR DAY OF PEACE

On September 25, 2025, Mary Jane Ware, president of the Fairfield Glade Rotary Club, delivered a speech dedicating a Peace Pole in honor of the International Day of Peace, observed on September 21. The Peace Pole was set in front of the Cumberland County Community Complex.
Ware highlighted the club’s belief that local efforts can drive global change.
“Peacebuilding is one of Rotary’s areas of focus and is central to our work as a humanitarian service organization”, she said. “The Rotary Club of Fairfield Glade believes that if people work together to create peace locally, change can happen globally.”
The Peace Pole, funded by a grant, features the phrase “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in multiple languages, including English, American Sign Language, Cherokee, Chinese (Mandarin), French, Japanese, Spanish, Polish, and a Braille plaque. The pole stands as a symbol of unity, hope, and the collective commitment to fostering peace, compassion, and cooperation within the community.
Ware expressed gratitude to Cumberland County for their partnership and to Donnie Moody and his crew for their expertise and labor in installing the pole, aiming to inspire a world where peace and dignity prevail for all.
