FAIRFIELD GLADE SHOOTING SUSPECT IN CUSTODY

What appeared to start as a home invasion last night in Fairfield Glade turned into a shooting this morning at 11:30 in the same location and possibly the same residence.

A press release sent to 105.7 News this morning from the Fairfield Glade Police Department stated the following:

On March 17th at approximately 9:55 PM the Fairfield Glade Police Department responded to a residence on Grouse Court in the Wilshire Heights neighborhood. Officers responded to a report that someone entered the residence by force. Officers arrived on the scene and made contact with the residents of the home. It was determined that the suspect who entered the residence had fled the scene. Upon investigation, it was determined that one resident sustained a minor injury and a firearm was recovered from the scene that possibly belonged to the suspect. The injury to the resident of the home was not a result of a discharge of the weapon. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office of Investigations was notified and Sheriff’s Office investigators responded. This incident remains under investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfield Glade Police Department, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, and the Office of the District Attorney General.

This morning officers were called back to the same area of Grouse Ct, for reports of a multiple shooting. Initial reports are that one person was killed and two others were sent to area trauma units by ambulance and after weather permitted, one by helicopter. A BOLO was put out for a light-colored older model Jeep Cherokee pulling a trailer being driven by the alleged shooting suspect. All schools in the area including Stone High School, Stone Elementary, Crab Orchard and Pineview were put on soft lockdown during the search for the suspect who was considered armed and dangerous. The suspect’s vehicle was located at King Arthur Court at 1:30 and SWAT negotiators were on the scene with the suspect eventually resulting in the suspect surrendering to officers. No identities have been released yet for the victims or the suspect.
