On April 15, 2025, at 11:47 AM, Corporal Logan Janow responded to a fraud report involving an 85-year-old resident of Fairfield Glade. the victim reported being scammed after receiving a call on April 10 from individuals posing as Microsoft team members.

They gained remote access to his computer, manipulated him into believing he over-transferred $6,099, and instructed him to buy $3,000 in gift cards from Food City, Dollar Tree, and Dollar General, and withdraw $3,000 from his First Bank account, totaling a $5,000 loss according to the victim.

His computer files were compromised. He secured his bank accounts and updated his Social Security information. Janow advised changing passwords and filing an IC3 report with the FBI.

The case remains under investigation with no identified suspects.
