FAIRMAN AND AYTES HONORED WITH GOVERNOR’S VOLUNTEER STAR AWARD

Volunteer Tennessee honored two from Cumberland County for the service to their community.

Wyatt Fairman is the youth honoree. Fairman has been a volunteer for the election commission since then 2020 Tennessee primary season.

Shawn Aytes is the adult recipient. He works as a fire life safety educator teaching fire safety to residents in the community.

The Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards is an initiative from Volunteer Tennessee that seeks to recognize outstanding volunteers. With the program now in its thirteenth year, participating counties conduct a call for nominations and recognize one outstanding youth and one outstanding adult volunteer.

The mission of Volunteer Tennessee is to encourage volunteerism and community service. Volunteer Tennessee is a 25-member board appointed by the Governor to oversee AmeriCorps and service-learning programs and to advance volunteerism and citizen service to solve community problems in the Volunteer State.
