Sweetwater police responded yesterday afternoon to the intersection of Old Highway 68 and Sweetwater Duck Park after a train collided with a vehicle.

Officers say Sharlotte Castillo-Wong of Sweetwater stopped on the tracks during peak traffic time. She was unable to move out of the way.

Despite the conductor’s efforts to halt the train, Castillo-Wong was struck by the train as she attempted to exit the vehicle.

She was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The Sweetwater Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mrs. Castillo-Wong during this time.
