FAIRFIELD GLADE COMMUNITY CLUB DISCONTINUES USE OF OUTDOOR WARNING SIREN SYSTEM

The Fairfield Glade Community Club has opted to discontinue the use of its outdoor warning siren system.

The decision was prompted by the outdated and unreliable nature of the current system, particularly evident during severe weather events. The existing outdoor warning system has led to confusion within the community because of instances of inaudibility and a lack of detailed threat information.

In line with a broader trend, many communities are transitioning from traditional manual emergency sirens toward more dependable and technologically advanced alternatives. This shift aims to provide more precise threat information, including the nature of the threat and its specific geographical location.

The Fairfield Glade Community Club suggests the following applications and local resources to monitor severe weather threats:

*Buy a NOAA Weather Radio that is programmable to our zip code

*Download the free Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency App that sends notifications to your phone regarding weather conditions, TDOT road conditions, school closings, and much more

* Listen to local radio stations to learn of watches and warnings issued.

*TV Networks ABC, CBS, and NBC, as well as the Weather Channel, provide several storm alert warning options

*The website, weathercall.com, has various products that will provide notifications to landlines, cellphones, email, and text for severe weather conditions. The cost for this service varies depending on the product selected
