FATHER SHOOTS SON IN MARYVILLE AFTER ALLEGED THREAT

MARYVILLE, TENNESSEE – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said the Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting death that occurred Thursday afternoon in Louisville.
Sheriff’s deputies and officers with the Alcoa Police Department responded to a residence on Scenic Hill Drive, Louisville, at approximately 5 p.m. Thursday to the report of a shooting that occurred inside the residence. Deputies made contact with James Delaney, 67, who said he shot his son, 22-year-old Thomas Delaney, after he pointed a gun at him and threatened to kill him. Authorities initiated lifesaving measures on 22-year-old Thomas Delaney who also resides at the residence. Medics with American Medical Response (AMR) responded and transported Delaney to the University of Tennessee Medical Center where he died a short time later.
No criminal charges are pending at this time. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the incident.
