FELON CHARGED FOR UNLAWFUL WEAPONS POSSESSION, THREATENS “SUICIDE BY COP”
Early Monday morning, Cumberland County deputies were sent to an address on Bilbrey Road for a possible domestic. After knocking several times, deputies were met at the door by 33-year-old Barbara Lynn Austin, who had a holstered revolver in her waistband.
Deputies retrieved and secured the weapon, which was loaded with six rounds; Austin was also in possession of 36 additional live rounds.
Austin told deputies she had a warrant. She was detained while deputies investigated. They found an outstanding warrant from White County. They also learned Austin had been convicted of second-degree murder and, as such, was not allowed to be in possession of a firearm.
Deputies described Austin as “irate and combative” and, according to the arrest report, stated “that if she got out she would do a suicide by cop.”
Austin was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and placed under $15,000 bond. She’s due in court June 10.
