FENTRESS COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT LAUNCHES NEW JUNIOR FIREFIGHTER PROGRAM FOR LOCAL YOUTH

The Fentress County Fire Department has officially announced the launch of its new Junior Firefighter Program, aimed at young men and women ages 13 to 17 who are interested in learning about the fire service, building leadership skills, and serving their community.

The program offers hands-on training, fire safety education, first aid instruction, and community service opportunities under the direct mentorship of experienced local firefighters in a structured environment. Meetings for the program will take place at Fentress County Fire Station 1, located on Justice Center Drive. (Note: The original announcement does not specify exact meeting dates or times).

“The future of the fire service begins with investing in our youth,” said Fire Chief Larry Cooper. “The Junior Firefighter Program is about much more than firefighting—it’s about developing leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and a heart for serving others. We are excited to provide this opportunity for the young people of Fentress County and look forward to watching them grow into the next generation of community leaders.”

Applications for the inaugural class are available now. Interested youth can apply online via the department’s application link (https://uc.readyop.com/fs/4iRx/e8d18c00) or by scanning the QR code on the official recruitment flyer. (Note: Specific application deadline dates and times were not provided in the announcement).
